The night we’ve been waiting for is almost here—finally! I’ve been thinking about La Passione di Milano for so long it barely seems like a reality. But the models’ looks are ready, the trunk show is packed, and I’m ready to celebrate everyone’s hard work.
Except…I haven’t exactly figured out what to wear for our big event. Maybe you, dear readers, can help me decide?
Since our runway will be filled with beautiful colors, I decided that black would be the best color to base my ensemble around. I want our real-life Goodwill looks to shine!
Option 1:
This look was guided by the menswear-inspired looks and boxy blazers I’m seeing in all the magazines. I’ve put a vintage boy’s wool tux jacket over a Tommy Hilfiger (for Macy’s!) striped shell. The vintage skirt is a Goodwill find that has a bit of tulle underneath—it’s totally party-ready. As for the shoes, I love my Naturalizer “Collide” glitter heels. They’re the most comfortable dress shoes I own, and I can dance the night away in them!
Pros: Cute, edgy. Plenty of pockets.
Cons: Not dressy enough? May get warm under that jacket.
Option 2:
This look is a bit easier to slip on and run out the door wearing. The black dress is by Jason Wu for Target, and this piece ended up being the only one from the collection I truly liked after I saw it up close. The construction on every other piece paled in comparison to this dress, and I’ve already worn my $60 worth.
The dress came with the blush belt, but I’ve added a teal one here to see if you, dear reader, have any strong opinions about accessorizing with color. I’ve added those glitter pumps again because…well, have you seen the bottom of this dress?
Yes. That there would be sequins just under the hem of the dress. And glitter pumps. Double your sparklies, double your fun.
Pros: Super comfortable, fits well, easy to accessorize with color.
Cons: Is it too boring?
I want to look my best, but it’s not always easy to make these decisions by yourself. Feel free to vote in the comments or drop me a note of encouragement on Twitter or Facebook!
See you at the gala!
